Baby gates and puppies

You may have noticed that there is a baby gate across the entrance into the kitchen area.  This is totally unfair.  The puppies will be 8 weeks tomorrow and are finally getting into the "fun" stage and I want to play with them.  Dan and Allana have put up this barrier to prevent Caiden and I from playing them.  If we are going to have puppies around her I think I deserve to get to play with them!

We had a nice weather all week with lots of sunshine.  It was great!  Unfortunately, today was stormy with rain, so I had to share the couch with the other dogs as everyone was inside all day.

The puppies are at the "spend all your time with me stage" so I'm not getting the attention I usually get and deserve. Fortunately they are sleeping right now. They tend to sleep a lot which works for me.  Sometimes I think I should be an only dog.

Sincerely,
Stitch

Water, water, everywhere.

Well, the storms last night were not too bad.  It was pretty rainy this morning when we got up, however, there were no rivers flowing through the yard so that was good.  The sun was out today so that was splendid.  Maybe summer is finally on its way!

We all escaped a bath tonight, but I did overhear a conversation about nails and baths, so I think I'll lay real low.  I'll just find a chew bone and hang out in my bed.  Hopefully they will not even notice me.  I'm going to be the invisible dog for a few days.  Wish me luck.

More Storms!

Now, I think I've shared that I am not afraid of lightning and thunder, however, intellicast just indicated that another line of storms is on its way over night.  So while I'm not afraid, let me tell you about the consequences of more rain.

1. I need my sleep so when storms roll in over night and Caiden and Halo start barking I do not get my beauty sleep.
2. When it rains, the other shelties start smelling like dogs and when that happens, we all get baths whether it is our day on the calendar or not.  I never smell like a dog, however, I still get a bath.
4.  If the road closes and we are safe that is fine, but I checked the level of the dog food bags, and by may calculations, we only have a week of food on hand right now, so I really think Dan and Allana need to keep at least a month of food on hand for us.  I do not want to go on a diet.

These are my concerns.  I think they are all valid.

Sincerely,
Stitch

Flood Aftermath

Now that we are safely back in our home and while Dan and Allana are at work, I have time to jump on the computer and catch up on what is happening in Wimberly and San Marcos.  One of the themes I've noticed is the displaced pets.  On behalf of a pet who lost their owner one day when I took myself out for a walk, I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to pick up the lost souls and kept them safe until their owners can find them.  I was only away from my owner for a few hours, but once I realized I was a little lost, I did get scared.  I was so glad that a nice lady found me and contacted my owner and got me back home.

I'm glad the vet students from Texas A & M have been available to help the dogs that have needed some extra help.  I read they have helped some of the search and rescue dogs too.  I was very excited when they were able to help the McCombs' lab.  I hope once his owner gets out of the hospital they will be reunited.

Thank you to everyone who is helping out with the recovery efforts of the flood in Wimberly and San Marcos.

Flooding in San Marcos

What a weekend.  Usually, Memorial weekend is full of hot dogs and hamburgers and people around the pool, but this weekend was very different.  An evacuation order was ordered at 4:00 a.m. on Saturday morning.  Our power had been out all night, and Halo, Star, and Caiden and I were trying to sleep in the family room.  Every time there was the sound of thunder, Halo and Caiden kept barking so it was really hard to sleep.

Allana's friend, Carolyn, called at 6:00 a.m. to let us know about the evacuation order.  All of a sudden, we were all in crates in the back of the mini-van and we were heading off.  It was hard to get out of town as I-35 was closed in both directions in addition to our usual highway 80 path to Houston.  Fortunately, Allana and Dan found a way out of town.

We ended up at Guy and Thelma Mauldin's.  I always enjoy seeing the, however, I ended up in the kennel all weekend, which I didn't think was very fair at all.

I also thought it was ironic, as I've read Pajero's blog and I know that typically people evacuate out of Houston to come to San Marcos.  Well, in this case, I'm glad they were there for us.  I really needed the air conditioning and a nice place to sleep without any storms.

Left at Home

So, I didn't have any trouble getting on the computer as Allana didn't come home from work and Dan left with Harmony and Tripp.  Now I don't normally get jealous but...I was stuck at home with Star and Halo all afternoon and Dan came home and put us outside and then loaded up Harmony and Tripp, put us back in the house and left.  I do like to hang out with the girls but a little time with Dan and Allana is better.  Allana didn't even take me to visit the patients at the hospital on the weekend.  I want to go out.  Here's some photos of the lucky spoiled ones that got to go out tonight...

Hi, I'm "Stitch"

Some of you may remember that "Ardon" made me feel very welcome when I moved back home with Dan and Allana.  I really miss "Ardon" and he had asked that I keep up the blog, but Allana has been really taking up all the time on the computer as she continues with her university classes.  I know Allana really misses Ardon too, but I'm going to try to do my best to keep everyone up to date on all the antics of the shelties around here.

Things have been pretty good lately.  The new annoying puppy that Dan brought home is starting to develop some manners.  Thankfully, Halo and Star have really helped me with keeping him in line.  I'll try to steal one of the cameras or Dan or Allana's phone to take a picture...

Sincerely yours,

"Stitch"
